Make sure any objects are 2-3 feet away from your furnace to give it room to breathe. The more air
a furnace has the better it burns.

Yes, clean your air vents, cold-air returns and heat registers to improve efficiency.
4. Should I install a programmable thermostat?
Yes, your furnace won't have to work as hard while you're asleep or at work, and you'll cut your
energy costs.
5. Should I have my furnace inspected?
Yes, it is easier and cheaper to maintain a furnace than to repair it. Inpsect your furnace in the fall
to ensure that it is ready for winter. While they are inspecting, have them also perform a Green
Sticker inspection.
